The difference a Labour government is making

NHS
We believe the NHS is one of Britain's proudest achievements, and that access to healthcare should be determined by need, not how much you can afford to pay.
So at the general election, we said we'd start cutting waiting lists by delivering 40,000 extra NHS appointments a week.
We've already delivered 4.2 million extra appointments – over double our target – and NHS waiting lists have come down by 200,000.
Now, we're putting record investment into the NHS, and setting out a 10 Year Health Plan to turn it around, and make it fit for the future.

Jobs
We believe that hard work should be rewarded, and that good jobs are good for Britain.
So last year, we said we'd deliver a pay rise to hundreds of thousands of people across the UK.
This spring, we raised the minimum wage for over 3 million people and signed 3 international trade deals to boost wages and create good jobs across the country.
And now, we're introducing the biggest upgrade to workers' rights in a generation, ending exploitative zero-hour contracts, protecting workers from unfair dismissal and boosting parental leave rights to support families.

Education
We believe that every child deserves the best start in life.
So at the election, we said we'd invest in high-quality early education and childcare.
In our first year, we've started rolling out school-based nurseries and breakfast clubs in schools across the country.
And now, we're extending entitlement to free school meals to over half a million more children – putting nearly £500 in parents' pockets and lifting 100,000 children out of poverty.

Homes
We believe in tackling the housing crisis and restoring the dream of home ownership.
That's why we said we'll build 1.5 million new homes.
We're already reforming the planning system to make it easier and faster to build the housing and infrastructure we need.
And because we want to give more people the security of a proper home, we've announced the biggest investment in social and affordable housing in 50 years, and we're introducing new rights for renters, ending "no fault" evictions.

Energy
We believe Britain's energy supply will be more secure if we generate more here at home.
That's why we said we want to make Britain a clean energy superpower.
So within 72 hours of taking office, we lifted the Conservatives' destructive ban on onshore wind to harness our natural resources.
Now, we're creating Great British Energy and backing our clean energy industry with the most significant investment in homegrown clean energy in Britain's history.

Policing
We believe people should follow the same rules.
So last year, we pledged to take back our streets.
We're getting on with it, with a Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee so that every area will have named, contactable neighbourhood policing teams to address local issues and concerns.
And we're giving the police new powers to tackle the crimes that matter most to communities, including seizing vehicles involved in antisocial behaviour.

The difference
We said at the general election we wanted to build a better Britain.
Over the last year, we've started to fix the foundations and we're taking steps in the right direction.
There's lots to do - but we're getting on with the job.
